Yuzvendra Chahal Scripts History with Hat-Trick, Leads PBKS’ Spin Charge in IPL 2025

Yuzvendra Chahal, Punjab Kings’ ₹18 crore recruit, has already etched his name in IPL 2025 history, becoming the first bowler to claim a hat-trick this season. During PBKS’ clash against Chennai Super Kings on April 30, the leg-spinner dismantled CSK’s lower order, dismissing MS Dhoni, Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in a single over – his fourth scalp marking the tournament’s first hat-trick since 2023.

Chahal, the IPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker (214 wickets as per latest stats), now holds two IPL hat-tricks – a feat only achieved by him and Amit Mishra. Despite PBKS’ mixed results (including losses to RCB on April 18 and 20), his 4/25 against CSK showcased his enduring threat.

While economy rates remain undisclosed, Chahal’s strike rate and ability to break partnerships keep PBKS’ playoff hopes alive. The 34-year-old, fresh from India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, anchors Punjab’s bowling unit alongside Arshdeep Singh. His acquisition aims to address PBKS’ historical spin frailties as they chase their maiden title.

Chahal’s 2025 campaign reinforces his status as India’s premier white-ball spinner, blending deception with big-match temperament. With 214 IPL wickets and counting, he remains pivotal to Punjab’s strategy in crucial fixtures ahead.
