Indian cricketer YuzvendraChahal and choreographer DhanashreeVerma have officially divorced, as confirmed by their lawyer, Advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta. He stated, “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife.”
The divorce was finalized on March 20, 2025, at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai, following a directive from the Bombay High Court to expedite the proceedings due to Chahal’s upcoming commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025, after living separately since June 2022.
In this case, the court waived the usual six-month cooling-off period required under the Hindu Marriage Act, recognizing that they had been apart for over two years. As part of the divorce settlement, Chahal is expected to pay Dhanashree a total of ₹4.75 crore in alimony, with ₹2.37 crore already paid.
The couple's marriage, which began in December 2020, has drawn significant public attention throughout its duration and subsequent dissolution. Chahal is now set to focus on his role with Punjab Kings in the IPL season starting March 23.
