Virender Sehwag launched a scathing critique of Ravindra Jadeja and CSK’s batting order after their five-wicket loss to SRH, which kept the Orange Army’s playoff hopes alive. Jadeja, batting at No.4, fell for 21 off 17 balls to spinner KaminduMendis, continuing his poor IPL 2025 form (strike rate: 125.76). Sehwag lambasted CSK’s approach, stating, “Their batters seem desperate for the tournament to end… Jadeja’s strike rate is useless, but he should’ve stayed till the 15th over to anchor the innings.”
Sehwag also questioned Sam Curran’s promotion to No.3, arguing Dewald Brevis(top-scorer with 42 off 25) should have batted higher. “Play Brevis at No.3, followed by Dube, Jadeja, and Curran,” he asserted. CSK collapsed from 114/4 to 154 all out despite starts from Ayush Mhatre (30 off 18) and Brevis, with Harshal Patel (4/28) derailing their innings.
In reply, SRH’s Ishan Kishan (44) steadied the chase before KaminduMendis (32*) and Nitish Reddy sealed the win with an unbroken 49-run stand. The loss leaves CSK rooted at the bottom (2 wins in 9 games), while SRH reignite their playoff bid. Sehwag’s remarks underscore CSK’s tactical disarray and reliance on misfiring stars.
