Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on March 24, 2025. The incident occurred while he was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club at the BKSP ground in Savar. Tamim experienced severe chest pain on the field, prompting immediate medical attention.
Initially, he was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, where doctors suspected mild heart issues. However, as he was being transported for further treatment, he experienced intense chest pain again and was rushed back to the hospital. Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), stated that Tamim underwent emergency angioplasty and is currently under observation at Fazilatunnesa Hospital. His condition has been described as critical, and he is receiving the necessary medical care.
