Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is set to return for the crucial IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, after missing the second half of the previous match due to a minor back spasm. GT director Vikram Solanki provided a positive update at the pre-match press conference, stating, “His fitness, there was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He’ll be at training today. We’ll just see where he’s at. We’re reasonably confident that he’s going to be OK.” Solanki confirmed that Gill would undergo a final assessment after Thursday’s training session, but the team is optimistic about his availability for the fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gill, who has been in impressive form this season, has amassed 389 runs in nine matches at an average of 48.62, including four half-centuries. His consistency has been pivotal for GT, who currently sit fourth on the points table and are eyeing a move to second with a win over SRH. Gill himself explained, “Felt a little back spasm in my back and we have a game couple of days after this, so the physio didn’t want to take a chance.” His return is seen as a major boost for GT as they look to strengthen their playoff push.
