Shardul Thakur Joins Lucknow Super Giants as Replacement for Injured Mohsin Khan in IPL 2025
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have officially signed all-rounder Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan in IPL 2025. Mohsin, who has been sidelined due to a calf injury following an ACL issue, was deemed unfit to participate in the tournament. The decision to bring in Thakur comes as LSG faces significant injury challenges within their pace attack, with other key bowlers like Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Akash Deep also recovering from injuries.
Thakur, who went unsold during the IPL mega auction earlier this year, has been training with LSG and is expected to make his debut in the upcoming match against Delhi Capitals. He signed with the franchise for a base price of INR 2 crores. The management received a fitness clearance report indicating Mohsin’s condition and acted swiftly to secure Thakur’s services.
With several frontline bowlers unavailable, Thakur’s experience will be crucial for LSG as they look to navigate the early stages of the tournament. He is anticipated to share the new ball with Shamar Joseph, providing much-needed depth to the squad as they aim for a strong start in IPL 2025.
