A performance of Team is often a reflection of what’s happening in the dressing room. If the players aren’t getting along, then the wins might or might not come, but when positive energy flows in the team, the results are taken care of. Perhaps, this might just be true for Team Mumbai Indians right now.
It looks like, senior pro Rohit Sharma and new skipper Hardik Pandya aren’t getting along, with JaspritBumrah looking indifferent too. Forget the reports suggesting a rift between the players, something just gives away, that the camaraderie is missing. Crowd booing Hardik, even at Wankhede, Rohit taking decisions when the chips are down. There’s a lot to look at. And this setup won’t give the desired results.
Who doesn’t remember that Greg Chappell era of Team India, where despite having some of the biggest names, the team largely struggled to string a series of wins. Then there was the World Cup of 2007, where India went on to lose in the first round itself.
Just a few months later, under Lalchand Rajput, the dressing room atmosphere improved considerably, and India went on to lift the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa.
