Mumbai Indians have signed leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for the injured VigneshPuthur, who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to bone stress reactions in both shins. The 31-year-old Sharma, a right-arm leg-break bowler from Jalandhar, Punjab, will join the team for the remainder of the tournament at his base price of ₹30 lakh from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP).
Raghu Sharma brings solid domestic experience, having played for Punjab and Puducherry. He has taken 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches at an impressive average of 19.59, including best figures of 7/56. In List A cricket, he has claimed 14 wickets in 9 games, and in T20s, he has picked up 3 wickets in 3 matches. This will be Sharma’s first IPL stint, providing him a platform to showcase his skills at the highest level of T20 cricket.
VigneshPuthur, who impressed with six wickets in five matches including a three-wicket haul on his IPL debut, will remain with the Mumbai Indians squad to focus on his rehabilitation under the team’s medical staff.
Mumbai Indians have been in good form recently, winning five consecutive matches after a slow start. The addition of Raghu Sharma aims to strengthen their spin department as they push for a strong finish in IPL 2025.
