Mumbai Indians (MI) dominated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 9 wickets in an IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium on April 20, 2025. Chasing a target of 177 set by CSK, MI achieved the total comfortably in 15.4 overs, losing just one wicket.
CSK posted 176/5 in their 20 overs, with Shivam Dube scoring a quick 50 off 32 balls and Ravindra Jadeja contributing an unbeaten 53 off 35 deliveries. Debutant Ayush Mhatre also impressed with 32 runs from 15 balls. Despite these efforts, MI’s bowling, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner, restricted CSK effectively.
In response, MI’s openers set a commanding tone. Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls, hitting four boundaries and six sixes, while Suryakumar Yadav smashed 68 not out off just 30 balls. The duo shared an unbroken 114-run partnership, steering MI to victory with 26 balls to spare. Ravindra Jadeja was the only wicket-taker for CSK.
This win marked MI’s fourth victory of the season, boosting them to sixth place on the points table. Meanwhile, CSK’s struggles continued as they suffered their sixth loss in eight matches, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy. Former India captain Kris Srikkanth described CSK’s campaign as “pretty much over” unless they win most of their remaining games.
