MS Dhoni Vows to Play for CSK “Even in a Wheelchair” Amid Retirement Rumors

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni has addressed retirement rumors ahead of the IPL 2025 season, expressing his unwavering commitment to the franchise. In a light-hearted remark, Dhoni stated, “I can play for as long as I want for CSK—this is my franchise. Even if I am in a wheelchair, they will drag me.” His comments were made during a press conference ahead of CSK’s much-anticipated opener against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians.

At 43 years old, Dhoni is set to participate in his 18th IPL season, now as an “uncapped player” due to a rule change by the BCCI. Despite persistent knee issues that required surgery in 2023, he remains a vital presence in the squad, primarily taking on the role of wicketkeeper and pinch-hitter.

Captain RuturajGaikwad provided an optimistic analogy, likening Dhoni’s longevity in cricket to that of Sachin Tendulkar, who continues to impress at 50. As speculation about his future lingers, Dhoni’s passion for the game and dedication to CSK reassure fans that he is not ready to retire just yet. The excitement builds as CSK prepares for their opening match on March 23, 2025.
