Mo Bobat was named London Spirit's Director of Cricket.
Bobat's entry marks the beginning of a new era of ownership for Spirit, with US-based digital investment group Digital Titans owning 49% of the team and MCC owning 51%. The ECB just announced that all eight hundred teams will become privately owned.
Under the new arrangement, London Spirit will continue to use its current name; a rebranding is scheduled for early 2026.
"It's an honor to join London Spirit at such an exciting time," Bobat remarked in reference to his new position. It is very thrilling to have the chance to influence this team's cricketing future while collaborating with MCC and our new partners, the Tech Titans. On and off the field, I'm excited to create something unique.
London Spirit chairman Julian Metherell went on: "Today is a big day for London Spirit. We are delighted to welcome Mo Bobat, who brings unparalleled experience and vision to the position of Director of Cricket. Retaining the London Spirit moniker, however, is a reflection of our faith in the identity that has been established—one that speaks to the capital, our supporters, and our principles. We now anticipate a new age with renewed vigor and a unique goal.
