The Kolkata Police have dismissed reports suggesting that the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scheduled for April 6, will be relocated from Kolkata to Guwahati due to Ram Navami celebrations. Despite earlier claims from Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly that the match would need to be shifted, the police have assured that they can provide adequate security for the event.
In a statement on social media platform X, the Kolkata Police emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens during this period. Meanwhile, a source from the CAB indicated that they have not yet received any official response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the request for a venue change.
Reports had initially suggested that the match would be moved due to potential security concerns coinciding with Ram Navami. However, with the Kolkata Police's reassurances, it remains uncertain whether the venue will ultimately change. As it stands, the IPL match is still slated to take place in Kolkata unless further decisions are made by the governing bodies involved.
