KKR is looking for a replacement for Shakib Al Hasan in the IPL as the Bangladesh all-rounder opts out of the 2023 season to focus on the Ireland series
bad news for Kolkata night riders as Shakib Al Hasan is not playing for Kolkata night riders in the IPL season 2023. Shakib and Litton Das earlier did not get the NOC from the Bangladesh cricket board to take part in the Indian Premier League. Shakib will now take part in the one-off test match against Ireland. According to the reports from Bangladeshi media, Shakib will not play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023. After being a part of the National Cricket Team, it was clear that Shakib will not be a part of KKR in the opening stages of IPL 2023. However, adding to the misery of KKR, the all-rounder star will now not take part in this season of IPL. Shakib will be part of the team that will travel to England to face Ireland in the three-match ODI series.
The ODI series against Ireland is going to start on May 9 and end on May 14. Prior to that, the teams will take part in a practise match that is said to be played on May 5. After the series, it will be futile for Shakib to don the purple jersey for KKR, as the IPL will end on May 28.
According to the reports, since KKR will not have Shakib for the major part of the tournament, they wanted a replacement for him and will opt for another foreigner in their squad. Reports also claim that Shakib has accepted the deal and will not take part in the tournament, but there has been no official statement regarding this from Shakib.
