Karnataka Govt Responds to Chinnaswamy Stampede

During the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory parade at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, a tragic stampede occurred, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals and multiple injuries. The event featured appearances by RCB players, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

Political advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasser Ahmed, commented on the situation, stating, "Crowd uncontrollable, we did not have time to make arrangements." Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar mentioned that the government had deployed 5,000 security personnel, including police officers, to manage the crowd. He emphasized the challenges faced by law enforcement, noting that "police officials cannot perform lathicharge on everyone as it’s beyond control." When questioned about the fatalities, he responded, "I can’t confirm anything."

The incident has raised concerns about crowd management and safety measures during large public events. Further investigations are underway to determine the causes and prevent such tragedies in the future.
