Karnataka Cabinet Approves Land for Mysuru’s ₹100 Crore International Cricket Stadium

The long-pending Mysuru International Cricket Stadium is set to move forward, with the Karnataka government approving the allocation of 26.31 acres at Huyilalu village near Mysuru. The land, free from legal disputes, will be transferred to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which plans to invest over ₹100 crore to develop the facility, positioning Mysuru as a key cricket hub alongside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. Former MP PratapSimha, a vocal advocate for the project, emphasized its necessity, citing Mysuru’s strong cricketing culture and the need for infrastructure to match states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, which host multiple international venues.

The proposal, now on the State Cabinet’s agenda, marks a breakthrough after years of delays, including earlier site issues at Sathagalli. CM Siddaramaiah confirmed the approval during a recent Cabinet meeting, noting the project’s inclusion in a ₹3,647 crore development push for the Mysuru division. Once operational, the stadium will enable Karnataka to host international matches across two cities, reducing reliance on Bengaluru and boosting regional sports tourism. KSCA’s investment aims to deliver a world-class facility with modern amenities, addressing the growing demand for cricket infrastructure in southern Karnataka.
