Kane Williamson, who is the batsman of the Gujarat Titans, has returned to New Zealand after suffering a knee injury during the IPL season 2023 opener match against the Chennai Super Kings. Williamson clarified that he was not in too much pain, although he was spotted walking on crutches and wearing a heavy-duty knee brace.
Kane Williamson got injured while attempting to save a six during the Chennai Super Kings inning. The incident happened during the 13th over of the match, when Ruturaj Gaikwad smacked a delivery from Josh Little towards a boundary. Williamson tried to stop the ball, but it landed awkwardly on his right knee. Later on, he was substituted by another player. Both CSK and GT physiologists checked him. Soon after GT announced that Williamson had been ruled out of the entire season of the IPL 2023, he will go back to New Zealand for further treatment.
Earlier today, when he landed in Auckland, local media channel Newshub NZ caught up with him and also shared a video of him walking on crutches. In the video, Williamson is seen talking to reporters, telling them, "It’s not too painful."
