Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a commanding 7-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2025 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Chasing a challenging target of 204, GT were powered by a superb unbeaten 97 from Jos Buttler, who anchored the innings with 11 fours and 4 sixes, narrowly missing out on a century.
Earlier, GT captain Shubman Gill opted to bowl first. DC started aggressively, with Abishek Porel and KL Rahul providing early momentum. However, Prasidh Krishna’s four-wicket haul (4/41) pegged DC back at crucial moments. Despite useful contributions from Axar Patel (39), Ashutosh Sharma (37 off 19), and Tristan Stubbs (31), DC finished at 203/8, a total that felt slightly below par on a good batting surface.
In reply, GT lost Gill early to a run out, but Sai Sudharsan (36 off 21) and Buttler counter-attacked, keeping the required rate in check. Sherfane Rutherford (43 off 34) provided valuable support before Rahul Tewatia finished the chase with a six and a four off Mitchell Starc in the final over. GT reached 204/3 in 19.2 overs, moving to the top of the IPL 2025 points table.
This win showcased GT’s batting depth and composure under pressure, while DC rued missed opportunities and a below-par finish with the bat.
