Jamie Overton was added to the Oval Test squad.
In a team that currently includes Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson, and Brydon Carse, Overton will be the sixth frontline pacer. Ben Stokes, the captain, acknowledged that England needed new legs before the final match, which is why he was added. Chris Woakes has played all four Test matches while recovering from an ankle injury, Ben Stokes has occasionally shown signs of pain on the pitch, and Jofra Archer, who hasn't played in Test cricket for four years, has participated in the last two Test matches.
The only Test match Overton has played in his career was against New Zealand three years ago. At The Oval, the fifth Test is scheduled to start on July 31. The fourth Test at Old Trafford concluded in a tie on Sunday, giving England a 2-1 series advantage.
