Shreyas Iyer has been added to the India A squad for the two multi-day matches against Australia, which will begin in Lucknow on September 16, after missing the bus for the upcoming Asia Cup. Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, and Prasidh Krishna are among the other recent Test players in the team that will be led by the Mumbai hitter. In their last assignment, Abhimanyu Easwaran led India A to England.

Iyer has been assigned a key role in the two A games. Jurel has been appointed Iyer's deputy. He played for India A during the England trip and in the fifth Test at Oval. Notable domestic players like Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar have also been added to the team. The selections include wicketkeeper-batter N Jagadeesan, who scored 197 against North Zone the day before the tournament's semifinal, and Ayush Badoni, who has been among the runs in the ongoing Duleep Trophy.
In the meantime, two players will be replaced in the A team for the second match against Australia A, which starts on September 23, by KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj, who are not in the roster for the Asia Cup. Prior to the home Test series against the West Indies, which begins on October 2, this will serve as preparation.
India A and Australia A will play three one-day matches at Kanpur on September 30, October 3, and October 5 following the two multi-day matches.
