If PCB isn’t granted hybrid model for Champions Trophy, Pakistan to pull out of ICC events in India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced it would not send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, prompting expected retaliation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The PCB threatened to withdraw its men’s and women’s teams from future ICC events in India unless Team India visits Pakistan. With two major tournaments upcoming—Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup 2026—this standoff is critical.

The PCB Insists that if India participates in Pakistan, they will reciprocate by attending the ICC events in India. However, without a hybrid model allowing matches in neutral venues, the PCB has stated they will not compete in India. They have already invested significantly in infrastructure for the Champions Trophy, which they were granted hosting rights for back in 2021. The ICC is currently meeting to discuss the tournament’s future, with options including a hybrid model or relocating the event entirely outside Pakistan. The PCB remains firm against a hybrid model, emphasizing that all matches must be hosted in Pakistan to ensure fairness.
