Yan Dhanda, an Indian-origin footballer, has already established a name for himself in Scotland as a member of Premiership side Ross County, and in recent years, he has impressed many experts with his midfield play. Dhanda, who earlier played in the youth divisions for Premier League giants Liverpool, was also a member of the England U-17 football squad that won the UEFA European U-17 Championship in 2017. The footballer went to social media to express his hope that India will grant OCI cards to Indian-origin players so that they can play for the team as dual citizens."Because of India's FIFA ranking, I won't be able to play professionally in the UK or some European clubs if I give up my passport." Allowing OCI cards, as other countries do, will enable me to represent the Indian football team as a dual national. "I hope this can happen soon," Dhanda responded to All India Football Federation (AIFF) secretary-general Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran on Twitter.Giving up my passport means I can't play professionally in the UK and some European clubs, due to India's FIFA ranking. Permitting OCI cards, similar to other countries, will allow me to represent the Indian football team as a dual national. I hope this can happen soon
