Gautam Gambhir Shuts Down Rumours

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir breaks silence on rumours of rift with Rohit Sharma and shares strong words of support for Virat Kohli

Gautam Gambhir has finally addressed the swirling rumours surrounding his relationship with senior Indian players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In a candid statement, he put to rest any speculation about internal conflicts, calling out media-driven narratives built purely for TRP and views.

"There is nothing going on between me and Rohit Sharma"

Gambhir strongly denied any rift between him and Rohit Sharma, emphasizing recent team success as evidence of unity.

“Just two months ago, a captain and coach won the Champions Trophy and today you guys are asking me if something is going on between me and Rohit Sharma. There is nothing like that. If you have raised this question for TRP and views on YouTube, then they should do their homework properly,” he said firmly.

He also took aim at a particular journalist who, according to Gambhir, sensationalized things without having proper insight.

“There was also a journalist who entered the field — someone who apparently knows everything from a needle to airplanes. He should have done his homework properly. But no, he came in for his own views and TRP.”

On Virat Kohli: "We should love and respect him"

Gambhir praised Virat Kohli’s legacy and contribution to Indian cricket, urging fans and the media to show respect.

“We should love and respect Virat Kohli for what he has done for India and Indian cricket.”

He emphasized that performance should always be the only criteria for selection.

“Till the time Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are performing, they should be a part of the team. Performance ensures selection. No coach, no selector, or even BCCI can tell someone to stop playing if they're delivering for the country and performing well.”

"People don't know about my bonding with Virat off the field"

Addressing the long-standing perception of a tense relationship with Virat Kohli, Gambhir revealed the personal reality behind the public narrative.

“We were friends, we are friends, and we are going to remain friends. People don’t know about my bonding with Virat off the field. People say a lot of things for their TRP.”
