Karachi Kings have appointed former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as their head coach for the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Bopara, who has a long-standing association with the franchise, previously served as captain in 2016, batting coach in 2023, and assistant coach in 2024. His appointment follows the departure of Phil Simmons, who led the team in PSL 9 but has now taken over as Bangladesh’s head coach. Mohammad Masroor, another long-time member of the Karachi Kings’ coaching staff, has been promoted to high-performance coach.
Team owner Salman Iqbal expressed confidence in the new coaching unit, highlighting Bopara’s commitment to the franchise and Masroor’s dedication. He believes their leadership will inject fresh energy into the squad. The Kings have undergone significant changes recently, including naming David Warner as their new captain.
Bopara’s playing career includes stints in both the PSL and IPL, where he represented teams like Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad until 2015. PSL 10 is set to begin on April 11, 2025, featuring 34 matches across multiple venues. Karachi Kings aim to improve after underwhelming performances in recent seasons.
