For Paris Olympics-bound Indian athletes, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announces Rs 8.5 crore to the IOA

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) just gave Indian athletes a big thumbs up for the upcoming Paris Olympics. The secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah, announced a contribution of Rs 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association through a tweet on Sunday, July 21.

Shah wrote in his tweet, “I am proud to announce that the BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 crore to the IOA for the campaign.”

The BCCI, known for being the richest cricket board in the world, has a history of supporting Indian athletes beyond cricket. This donation shows their support for promoting other sports in India and recognizing the importance of doing well at the upcoming Olympics. It was only a month ago when Shah announced a whopping Rs 125 crore for Team India, who won the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. Going with the trend, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if BCCI goes on to reward Indians who clinches the prestigious medals at the Summer Games 2024.
