For IPL 2025, Ex-RCB skipper Faf du Plessis named DC’s vice-captain
Faf du Plessis, the former captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been appointed as the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. Du Plessis was acquired by DC for Rs 2 crore in the mega auction after being released by RCB. He will serve as the deputy to captain Axar Patel, who recently took over the leadership role following Rishabh Pant's departure to Lucknow Super Giants.
Du Plessis brings significant experience, having captained RCB in 42 matches with a balanced win-loss record of 21-21. He is the second-best skipper for RCB after Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid. His appointment as vice-captain suggests he will be a regular in the playing XI.
Du Plessis began his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings, later moving to Rising Pune Supergiants during CSK's suspension. He returned to CSK before joining RCB as captain in 2022. His leadership and batting prowess will be crucial for Delhi Capitals as they aim to secure their first IPL title.
