Ex-India Coach Abhishek Nayar Secures New Role After Mid-Season Return to KKR Support Staff

Just days after being relieved from his role as one of the coaches for the Indian cricket team, Abhishek Nayar has quickly found new opportunities in the cricketing circuit. He has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as part of their support staff for IPL 2025. Now, according to a Times of India report, Nayar is set to take on another significant role as the mentor of the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the upcoming T20 Mumbai League.

The third edition of the T20 Mumbai League is scheduled to begin on May 26, and a formal announcement regarding Nayar’s appointment as mentor is expected soon. Alongside Nayar, several other notable cricketing figures have been appointed to key roles in the tournament. Former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will serve as the head coach of ARCS Andheri, while ex-India team masseur Ramesh Mane will be the masseur for the same team. Omkar Salvi, Mumbai’s domestic head coach, will lead SoBo Mumbai Falcons, and former IPL star Pravin Tambe has been named head coach of North Mumbai Panthers. Atul Ranade, assistant coach of Vidarbha, will head Triumph Knights Mumbai North East.

The tournament will feature some of Mumbai’s top cricketing talents, with icon players like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, and others confirmed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to be the faces of the event. This blend of experienced mentors and star players promises an exciting and competitive T20 Mumbai League season.
