The England cricket team is enduring a disappointing collapse in their first innings on day 3 of the second Ashes test at Lord's, as they were dismissed out for 325 runs after starting the day at 278 runs at the loss of four wickets. To add to the miseries of the host Australia cricket team, they were without their lead spinner Nathan Lyon, who is going to miss out on the entire test after facing an injury on the previous day. The captain of the England cricket team, Ben Stokes, departed only on the second delivery in the morning session, while Jonny Bairstow lost his wicket to Josh Hazelwood.
Former captain of the England cricket team, Michael Vaughan, was quite angry with the batting performance of England on the third day, as he expressed his disappointment during his commentary session at Lord's. He said, "Shocking shot England clearly feels like losing."
He further said, "Yesterday they gifted Australia three wickets; they arrive on day 3 with the pictures doing a bit more to see that wicket, and Australia now know they are bowling to the tail. England needs to be realistic; they cannot make entertainment with stupidity."
Vaughan further added that "for the first 188 runs, England played good cricket with proper shots. Australian bowlers got no help as the ball was not doing anything, so they resorted to short balls. What came next was pure stupidity."
