During the MI training session before their match against RCB, LasithMalinga shows all bowlers who is the boss

IPL franchise Mumbai Indians registered therefore in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League last week when they defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs. The team faced a tough start to the season as they lost the first three matches under the captaincy of newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya, and the victory for Mumbai Indians appears to have injected fresh blood into their camp.

Earlier this week, the Mumbai Indians shared a moment from their team training session in a video that showed a target hitting drill for the bowlers. The video included LasithMalinga asking his bowlers along with Arjun Tendulkar to hit at the stumps, but none of them managed to hit the stumps, and that is when Malinga took up the challenge himself.

Despite having retired from professional cricket for over 3 years now, Malinga showed amazing accuracy by effortlessly hitting the target, showing that his skills remain sharp even at the age of 40.

Malinga gave a smile as he hit that target. He was well known for his fierce Yorkers, who would often crash the stumps during his playing days. Malinga made his name in the Indian Premier League for the same throughout his time at the Mumbai Indians. The former fast bowler is among the rare franchise players in the IPL, having represented Mumbai all through his league career.

Across nine seasons, Malinga etched his name in the wicket-taking list as one of the top bowlers in the tournament. He has taken 170 wickets in the 122 matches he has played. He is the highest wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians and was also the top wicket-taker of the league when he retired in the year 2021. Since then, bowlers have surpassed him, with Yuzvendra Chahal at the top with 195 wickets to his name in 149 matches.

Although the journey of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL season 2024 has been tough, as they have won only one match out of the total four matches they have played, Now they are going to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have also won only one match in the five matches they have played till now.
