Due to a leg injury, SL Star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out of the India vs. Sri Lanka series

In one of the massive set bags for the Sri Lanka cricket team, the star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against India due to an injury. The news comes as a major blow to the hosts, who were already reeling from the absence of key pacers Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka.

Hasaranga had been in an amazing form, playing an important role in the near-upset of Sri Lanka in the first ODI. His three wickets and quick-fire 24 runs proved invaluable to the Lankan lions. However, a hamstring injury has proved to be a thorn in his fitness. The star all-rounder would’ve loved to contribute once again in the second ODI.

On Saturday, he underwent an MRI scan, but the results weren’t what Sri Lanka hoped for. Jeffrey Vandersay would be an ideal replacement for Hasaranga. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed, and the extent of his absence remains unclear. Sri Lanka will be hoping for a speedy recovery for their star player as they look to salvage the series.
