Daryl Mitchell says, “Virat Kohli will go down as one of the greatest ever”
The New Zealand cricket team was not able to defeat India in their group stage match of the ODI World Cup 2023. While playing at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, New Zealand was not able to defend the target of 274 runs they set against India.The main reason behind the successful chase of team India was a patient knock from Virat Kohli, who notched up 95 runs from 104 balls to guide India to their fifth win in a row. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Centurion Daryl Mitchell praised the batter and called him one of the greats of the game.In the post-match press conference, Mitchell said of Kohli, "He's a world-class player, and he'll go down as one of the greats of the game for a reason. A very good knock under pressure, I thought, and although he didn't get 100, he got his team across the line".He further added that, "Look for us as Kiwis, we'll just keep throwing punches, we'll keep trying different things, and we'll keep trying to take wickets, and I'm just really proud of our bowling unit tonight and how they tried to do that for periods of time and in conditions that probably got better with the dew with the wicket, so yeah, for us, we're really proud of our efforts, and we look forward to taking on the Aussies in just under a week's time.”
