The worst has come true for CSK as the Ace batter of New Zealand Devon Conway has been ruled out of IPL 2024. Chennai Super Kings were hopeful of the southpaw’s return. But now, they have gone on to sign Richard Gleeson as Conway’s replacement for the remainder of the season.
The IPL statement read, “Devon Conway has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League 2024 due to an injury. CSK have added Richard Gleeson to the squad for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2024. Gleeson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has 9 wickets against his name. Additionally, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets. He will join CSK for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac.”
“Devon Conway earlier was injured and underwent a surgery on his thumb. It was stated that he would need around 7-8 weeks to recover from his injury. As a result, Chennai Super Kings were hopeful of his return midway into the tournament. However, now the ace Kiwi batter has been ruled out of the tournament, in what appears to be a big blow to CSK.”
