CSK defeats SRH by 78 runs in the Indian Premier League season 2024

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings restored their pride as they registered a dominating victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk Stadium in match 46 of the Tata IPL 2024 on Sunday. Winning the toss and choosing to field first, SRH captain Pat Cummins must have wanted to bundle the home team to a sub-par total. Initially, the visitors had some luck as well. But 50 by Daryl Mitchell, 98 off 54 by CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and a quickfire cameo by Shivam Dube powered the home team to a good total of 212/3 in 20 overs.

In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a horrible start. They were banking heavily on Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, but there was no match for the bowling attack of Tushar Pande. SRH lost four wickets within the powerplay. Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abdul Samad tried to bring some stability and pace to the chase, but SRH never recovered. For CSK, Deshpande picked up four wickets. Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana got two wickets each.

In the end, SRH’s crumbling defence collapsed, and CSK won the match by 78 runs. With this win, CSK are back in the top 4 of the IPL points table. They are now at number 3, with SRH pushed to number 4.
