The captain of Chennai Super Kings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, urged his bowlers to believe in themselves as he wanted to build character in the bowling department. In the current list of most wicket takers, only two CSK bowlers are featured in the top 10, as Tushar Pandey is on the 6th number with 12 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja is on the 9th number with 11 wickets.
Dhoni told the broadcaster at the toss before the match against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur that, "At the end of the day, you need characters; we are trying to build characters, trying to convince them to focus on the process and believe in themselves. The result doesn't matter."
Harbhajan Singh, who is the former spinner of the Indian Cricket Team, said that the winning mantra for Mahendra Singh Dhoni is to back his players to the hilt, especially the batters in their best and preferred positions.
Harbhajan further added that CSK are a champion team, and Dhoni is someone who doesn't deviate from his game plan after every match and understands that players need to have faith and belief in them.
He said on Star Sports that "the winning mantra of MS Dhoni is that he backs the player at his best and preferred batting position. Dhoni backs the players to the hilt, and that is the reason why CSK is a champion team. He also said that "he doesn't deviate from his game plan frequently or after every match. The players need to have that belief and faith in the management and captain. Only then do they perform, and MS and CSK team management understand it."
