CSA Central Contracts 2025-26: Klaasen, Nortje, and Shamsi Left Out; Miller Secures Hybrid Contract

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has unveiled its central contracts for the 2025-26 season, featuring 20 players. Eighteen have secured national contracts, while David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen have been awarded hybrid contracts. These hybrid contracts allow them to participate in specific bilateral white-ball series and ICC tournaments, reflecting the evolving landscape of modern cricket.

Notably, Heinrich Klaasen, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi are absent from the list. Discussions regarding Klaasen's future are ongoing, with CSA stating that a final decision will be made soon. It is speculated that Klaasen might follow Quinton de Kock's path by focusing on franchise cricket.

Director Enoch Nkwe highlighted the strategic approach behind the hybrid contracts, emphasizing their alignment with the dynamic nature of cricket today. He congratulated all contracted players, particularly newcomers, with a focus on the upcoming World Test Championship cycle and the 2027 Cricket World Cup, which South Africa will host. The contracts run from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, and are designed to support the team's preparations for these significant events.
