Craig McMillan joins the New Zealand Women as a full-time coach.

Craig McMillan has accepted a new contract and will be the full-time assistant coach of the New Zealand women's cricket team. Throughout the previous 12 months, the 48-year-old had been employed on a part-time basis, including during the UAE's successful T20 World Cup campaign last year.

Under head coach Ben Sawyer, McMillan will continue to train in both the batting and fielding departments. His position formally started this week. McMillan, a former Black Caps cricket player, is glad to accept the full-time role, which means he will have to give up his media and other coaching responsibilities throughout the world.

"I'm over the moon to be in this role with the White Ferns," McMillan stated. "I'm thrilled to keep working with our amazing competitors and supporting them as they reach their goals as the women's game continues to grow. I've enjoyed every second of being a member of a team that keeps getting better, pushing each other, and doing unique things on the global scene, and the past year has flown by."

As New Zealand looks to add to the one title they won at home in 2000, McMillan added that preparations are well underway. "The run-up to the 50-over World Cup has been hectic. The players were exposed to Indian conditions, such as those they came across in October and November, during one of our many camps, which was held in Chennai.

In preparation of another World Cup, the team is eager to return to India.

On September 10, the World Cup team for New Zealand will be revealed. They will play Australia, their opponents from the Tasman, in Indore on October 1 to start their campaign.
