Confusion in US cricket forces the ICC to rethink; the West Indies could host the entire 2024 T20 World Cup

Time continues to get gloomy for USA cricket, as from being deemed the official host of the 2024 T20 World Cup to now being side lined as spectators, USA cricket faces a lot of confusion. According to the reports, such a situation might arise when the entire tournament could potentially be hosted by the West Indies cricket board as the ICC is rethinking their choices. The main cause of this confusion is simple: there are no real facilities in the USA, which can result in a suspension from the board.

Dr. Atul Rai, who is the interim chairman of USA cricket from August 2022 to April 2023, said that the lack of real facilities in the USA and the improper infrastructure have made the situation tough. The USA is not meeting the necessary standard required for hosting a massive tournament like the T20 World Cup; hence, the West Indies could go on to host the tournament.

He said, "It's a very tough situation." Not really. I don’t think so. Not where we stand right now. But then again, the ICC has to make the final call. But without proper infrastructure, nothing is going to happen. We don’t have any existing facilities, so it’s up to the ICC whether they will invest money in some makeshift venues and even host some games. But it’s a very tough situation, to be honest. "The ICC has recognised that too."
