Coach Sangakkara's blunt statement on the batsman of the Rajasthan Royals
The head coach of Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, feels that the batsmen threw away their wickets, adding that the IPL match was lost in the powerplay itself after half the side was sent back to the pavilion by Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. The Royals suffered a batting collapse and got bowled out for 59, which is the third lowest inning total in the IPL. To this, Sangakkara said, "It was a poor batting performance. We bowled well to keep them under 170, which on this pitch was going to be a good chase."
He further said, "I think we got a little bit carried away in the power play thinking that we had to score too many runs there and right to be ultra positive. It was a case of trying to build partnerships, but unfortunately, we were five down coming out of the powerplay, which was probably the end of the game."
