Chris Gayle Names Sarfaraz Khan as His Favorite IPL Team mate Over Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers

Legendary T20 icon Chris Gayle, who dazzled the Indian Premier League (IPL) for over a decade, recently revealed his favorite IPL teammate—and it’s not ViratKohli or AB de Villiers. Surprisingly, Gayle named Sarfaraz Khan as his most cherished teammate during his illustrious stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Sarfaraz, who joined RCB at just 17 years old in 2015, quickly impressed Gayle with his innovative batting and youthful energy.

Sarfaraz’s maiden IPL season saw him become the youngest player to debut in the league, earning admiration from teammates and fans alike. Gayle has consistently spoken highly of Sarfaraz’s talent, even predicting back in 2016 that he would become a future superstar in Indian cricket. “We get along well. Sarfaraz keeps texting me…He’s like a son to me. He’s definitely one for the future,” Gayle remarked during an interview.

Despite playing 50 IPL games and six Test matches for India, Sarfaraz went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction held in Jeddah last year. Gayle’s endorsement of Sarfaraz highlights the camaraderie they shared during their time at RCB, where Gayle spent seven memorable seasons. For Gayle, Sarfaraz remains an unforgettable part of his IPL journey.
