In the meanwhile, Shivam Dube played an undefeated innings of 26 runs off 18 balls, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, Conway's opening partner, scored 30 runs off 16 deliveries. Piyush Chawla claimed two wickets for MI's bowling unit. Initially, MI reached 139/8 in 20 overs thanks to Nehal Wadhera's innings of 64 off 51 balls. For CSK's bowling unit, Matheesha Pathirana was in excellent form, capturing three wickets. Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar each received two dismissals.
