Carlos Braithwaite after the West Indies fail to qualify for the World Cup 2023

Two-time champions of the ICC ODI World Cup, the West Indies, for the first time, failed to qualify for the event. Former all-rounder Carlos Braithwaite has described it as "the lowest you can go." He said that the science was there early in the qualifying campaign but that the team's performance had been stunning in its "failure."

Braithwaite was joined by fellow West Indies legend Ian Bishop in dissecting the downfall of the team, and the former Pacer also said that the team is lacking hunger and desire. He further said that they had not been able to cope with the pressure of playing in the qualifiers.

Brathwaite said that the team needed to rebuild and refocus if they were to be competitive in future tournaments. "It has been a long time Brathwaite said that the team needed to rebuild and refocus if they were to be competitive in future tournaments. "It has been a long time coming," he said. Obviously another format, T20, missed out on the Super 12 stage as well last year, so in white ball cricket, there have been troubles in the past."
