Captain Rohit Sharma admits, ‘Winning IND vs. SA Tests wouldn’t make up for the World Cup loss’

Indian captain Rohit Sharma came tantalizingly close to becoming the third Indian captain to secure the 50-over World Cup title. Now, he’s back with renewed energy to lead India against South Africa in the upcoming IND vs. SA Test series. He led India’s strong run in the World Cup before the final, and he’s ready to make history by winning India’s first Test against South Africa in the Rainbow Nation. However, the Indian skipper admitted that a series win wouldn’t completely make up for the World Cup loss.
Rohit Sharma said in a press conference that, “It will be a matter of huge respect to win the series here, but I don’t know if it will make up for the World Cup loss. Winning a World Cup is a different thing, but we will give our best. We have been working hard for so long that we deserve to win something big.”
India went into the World Cup final as the favorites for once, but they lost to Australia. India’s batters didn’t do well, except for Rohit, and Australia’s Travis Head scored a hundred, leading to a one-sided final.
