Everyone has an opinion on cricket, and if we start talking about the Indian cricket team, these opinions start increasing. After the announcement of the World Cup 2023 squad of Team India, these opinions have flown thick and fast about the combination of teams. Sunil Gavaskar, who is the former captain of team India and is also a 1983 World Cup winner, is triggered by these foreign experts giving their advice on the team combination of India.
The triggering point for Gavaskar's outburst was a question about how the former chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi, indicated in a post on X that India are afraid to play Pakistan.
Sunil Gavaskar said, "If you see the statements that come out from their side, sadly, our media gives them prominence. We have Pakistani players and Australian players selecting the Indian team. How is it their concern? Do any Indian players go and select the Australian or Pakistani team? It's none of our business. But we allow that."
He further said that, "From there, it's always Babar who is better than Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma; Shaheen Afridi is better than so and so. Inzamam-ul-Haq is better than Sachin Tendulkar. For them, they are always better than us. That is the way they have to cater to their audience."
While talking about team India getting extreme focus from the foreign experts, Sunil Gavaskar has an interesting logic.
Gavaskar said, "Don't give them space in your papers. You have South Africa saying a player should be on your team. You have an Australian saying. It happens too often. They say who should bat at No. 3 or No. 4? C'mon, we don't need your advice."
