Big boost for KKR before their match against PBKS as Johnson Charles arrives in Kolkata

The Kolkata Knight Riders received a big boost as Johnson Charles reached Kolkata before their important match against the Punjab Kings on Monday, which is the 8th of May. The Caribbean star was signed by KKR as the replacement for Litton Das because the Bangladesh wicketkeeper and batsman went back to his home town for a family emergency. The inclusion of Charles in the KKR team will strengthen their batting, as he is capable of taking the match away from the opposition with his powerful batting.

The right-handed batsman has a decent record for the West Indies cricket team, having scored 971 runs in 41 T20Is. Overall, Charles has played 224 T20 matches, where he has scored 5600.

In the last game of the Kolkata Knight Riders against Hyderabad, RahmanullahGurbaz and Litton Das were the openers. After the failure of Jagadeesan at the top, KKR have preferred Gurbaz to be the wicketkeeper and batsman in the team. He has performed well in the IPL season 2023, as he has scored 183 runs in 7 matches and is set to keep his place against the Punjab Kings. There are chances that Charles will be overlooked for the match against the Punjab Kings, as captain NitishRana is going in with Roy, Gurbaz, Russell, and Narine as his four foreign players.
