Ben Sears Makes History with Back-to-Back Five-Wicket Hauls in ODIs

New Zealand’s Ben Sears has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first Kiwi bowler to achieve back-to-back five-wicket hauls in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). This remarkable feat was accomplished during New Zealand’s dominant series against Pakistan in 2025.

In the second ODI at Hamilton, Sears claimed his maiden ODI five-wicket haul with figures of 5/59, helping New Zealand secure an 84-run victory and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. He followed this impressive performance with another five-wicket haul in the third ODI, contributing significantly to New Zealand’s series sweep over Pakistan.
