Royal Challengers Bangalore has announced the list of retained players for the women's Premier League season in 2024. Captain Smriti Mandhana, Sophia Devine, Heather Knight, Ellyse Perry, and Renuka Singh are among the retained players. In the inaugural season of the Women Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to qualify for the playoffs and won only two out of the eight matches they have played.
In a statement released by RCB, it is said that “RCB has retained a total of 11 players ahead of the WPL 2024, which will be the second edition of the Women Premier League.”
It is further said in the statement that, “apart from retaining the Indian International trio of captain Smriti Mandhana, wicketkeeper and batter Richa Ghosh, and fast bowler Renuka Singh, the list of RCB's retained players also includes three foreign players: Sophia Devine, Heather Knight, and Ellyse Perry.”
The statement further read, “With a total of 11 retentions made and 7 players released, RCB is left with a total purse of 13.35 crore to spend at the auction. They will also have 7 slots to fill in the WPL auction for the following year.”
