Basit Ali Warns Yashasvi Jaiswal Against Following Prithvi Shaw’s Path

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has expressed concerns over YashasviJaiswal’s form in IPL 2025, likening his struggles to those of Prithvi Shaw. The Rajasthan Royals opener has managed just 107 runs in five matches, with scores of 1, 29, 4, 67, and 6. Ali urged Jaiswal to rekindle his passion for cricket, warning that complacency could lead to a downfall similar to Shaw, who has been dropped from both IPL and domestic cricket due to poor performances and off-field controversies.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Ali speculated that Jaiswal’s move from Mumbai to Goa in the domestic circuit might be affecting his performance. He noted that such decisions could disrupt focus and form, as seen with other players. “His stomach is filled. Jaiswal isn’t focusing on cricket. Cricket can make you cry a lot. Look at Prithvi Shaw. Love cricket and bring passion,” Ali remarked.

Jaiswal’s inconsistency comes despite his stellar performances in previous IPL seasons. While openers like Sai Sudharsan and Arya have excelled this year, Jaiswal appears to be lagging behind. His struggles post the Border-Gavaskar Trophy have raised questions about his ability to adapt and perform under pressure.
