At one stage in the ongoing second Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Bangladesh were 26/6. The hosts were planning to wrap up things early and that’s when Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz built a crucial partnership of 165 runs, which bailed Bangladesh out of trouble and gave them some hope. Miraz scored 78 runs, while Litton hit 138 runs, which helped the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side score 262 runs in the first innings.
Litton believes the Mirpur ton to be a more special knock than the one he played against Pakistan. Although he expressed gratitude to have got the opportunity and helping Bangladesh post a good total on the board.
Litton said at the presser at the end of the third day’s play, “Not really (my best knock). I scored 141 vs Sri Lanka, it was the same situation. This is a good total. I am lucky to get the opportunity and I am happy.”
“We did not plan for very long. When I started with Shakib, he got out early. When Miraz came in, the only thing that we discussed was how to break their momentum. Credit goes to Miraz. I was injured after I got hit by the ball. Miraz put Pakistan on the back foot with his shot-making,” he added when asked about the plan.
