Babar Azam century took Pakistan's cricket team to the top of the ODI rankings.

Babar Azam smashed a brilliant century on Friday, which helped the Pakistan cricket team come to the top of the ODI international rankings as the team got a 102-run victory in the 4th match against New Zealand in Karachi. Babar Azam smashed a 117-ball 107 and also became the fastest batsman to reach 5000 ODI runs as his team scored 334 runs at the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. His 18th ODI century took him past the mark in his 97th innings in the format, beating former South Africa batsman Hashim Amla's previous record of 101 innings. While chasing down that target, the New Zealand cricket team was bowled out for 232 runs in 43.4 overs.

This win against the New Zealand cricket team gave Pakistan a 4-0 lead in the five-match series and also took them to the number one position for the very first time since the International Cricket Council officially recognised the rankings in 2005.
