At Wimbledon, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden get off to a winning start

India's Rohan Bopanna and his Australian men's doubles partner Matthew Ebden overcame an Argentine combo of Guillermo Duran and Tomas Etcheverry to reach to the Wimbledon second round. In their opening encounter, the sixth-seeded Indo-Australian pair defeated the spirited Argentine pair 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (10-8) in two hours and 12 minutes. The unseeded British team of Jacob Fearnley and Johannus Monday will play the 43-year-old Bopanna and 35-year-old Ebden, who won two doubles titles on the ATP Tour earlier this year.Bopanna and Ebden won the Qatar Open in February, and in March, the Indian became the oldest player to win an ATP1000 tournament at Indian Wells in the United States.Bopanna broke the record set by Canadian Daniel Nestor, who won the Cincinnati Masters at the age of 42 in 2015.On Saturday, Bopanna will compete in the mixed doubles with Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada. The sixth seeded pair, who won the French Open in 2017, will face the unseeded team of Croatia's Ivan Dodig and Chinese Taipei's Latisha Chan.On Saturday, Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain and Adrian Mannarino of France, while Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and N Sriram Balaji will face second seeds Austin Krajicek of the United States and Ivan Dodig.
