At IPL 2025 auction Prithvi Shaw goes unsold, not even worth Rs 75 lakh

Prithvi Shaw went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, failing to attract even a bid at his base price of ₹75 lakh. Once hailed as a promising powerplay batter, Shaw’s situation has become concerning as he did not receive interest from any of the ten franchises. His struggles stem from a series of controversies that have overshadowed his career, including doping violations and fitness issues.

Shaw was suspended for eight months in 2020 after testing positive for terbutaline, a prohibited substance he claimed to have ingested inadvertently through cough syrup. More recently, he was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team due to being overweight and a lack of discipline, prompting the Mumbai Cricket Association to take action.
